Dear Wendy

“I hold my breath and wonder what it would feel like to just stop.”

Dear Wendy is a new autobiographical piece written and performed by Cat Johnston about breathing, making sense of yourself, and looking for answers in a world that often doesn’t feel like it’s listening. Part letter, part spoken-word confession, part visceral, sensory experience - the piece is an intimate and quietly confronting exploration of both the physical mechanics of breath, and breathing as a political statement and rallying cry. Moving through memory and guided exhalation, Dear Wendy interrogates taking up space, finding your voice, and looking for the good wherever you can.

Following its premier at Summerhall, Dear Wendy will tour to Krakow International Theatre Festival in Poland, and Babel International Festival of Performing Arts in Târgoviște, Romania.

The average person takes around 20,000 breaths a day. Dear Wendy is about learning to notice them.
